In May 2025, Star Wine List of the Year will announce the best wine lists in New York for the third time.
Monday 5 May
The Gold Medal winners of Star Wine List of the Year New York will be announced at an awards ceremony on 5 May 2025, naming the best wine lists (and wine teams) of the New York metropolitan area.
Our judges have now announced their finalists and we look forward to celebrating with them all.

Judges
The expert jury panel for Star Wine List of the Year New York 2025 includes four top names from the world of wine:
• Stephen Wong MW – sommelier, judge and consultant
• Wanda Mann – wine writer and presenter
• Salvatore Castano – Best Sommelier of Europe and Africa 2021 (ASI)
• Paz Levinson – Best Sommelier of the Americas 2015 (ASI)
Categories and criteria
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.

INTERNATIONAL CATEGORIES:
• Grand Prix
The best list of the overall competition.
• Best Long List, presented by Château d'Esclans
For wine lists with more than 600 references.
• Best Medium-Sized List, presented by Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné
200-600 references.
• Best Short List, presented by Familia Torres
Fewer than 200 references.
• Best By the Glass List, presented by Maison Barrière
• Best Sparkling Wine List, presented by Oddbird
• Best Newcomer List, presented by La Bouche du Roi
• Sustainable Wine List, presented by Lingua Franca
Recognises a wine list that has put extra emphasis on the wine program’s overall impact, including vine growing, winemaking, packaging and transport. Assessed via a questionnaire during the application process.
• Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
