Star Wine List of the Year Baltics 2024
On 15 September we will return to the Baltic states to celebrate the best wine lists and the teams behind them for the second time. All Baltic restaurants and wine bars are welcome to enter, free of charge.
Sunday 15 September
Star Wine List of the Year will be held in Riga on 15 September, in cooperation with the Latvian sommelier championship and it is the second event on our 2024-2025 International tour of wine list celebrations.
For each category, the jury will select finalists from all three Baltic states - depending of course of the strength of the entries. And for each category, there will be a national winner from each of the three states. From those three winners, one Baltic champion will be selected per category. And in the end - one Baltic wine list will be crowned the Grand Prix winner as the best wine list in the Baltics.
How to register?
The awards are open for all restaurants and wine bars in the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), free of charge.
Last day to enter was Sunday 28 July 2024.
Top wine expert jury
The jury for the Baltics is filled with top names from the wine and sommelier trade:
Piotr Pietras, Master Sommelier
Paz Levinson, named Best Sommelier of Americas 2015
Salvatore Castano, Best Sommelier of Europe and Africa 2021
Categories and criteria
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: Vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category. The Jury will soon be announced.

INTERNATIONAL CATEGORIES:
• Grand Prix
The best list overall
• Best Long List
For wine lists with more than 600 references.
• Best Medium-Sized List
200-600 references.
• Best Short List
Less than 200 references.
• Best Sparkling Wine List
• Best By the Glass List, presented by Wynns
• Best Newcomer List
• Sustainable Wine List
For the Sustainable Wine List category, not only the wine list is evaluated, but also the stated actions of the venue, as described through a questionnaire in the application.
RECURRING CATEGORIES:
• Best Austrian List, presented by Austrian Wine
The winners in the international categories will qualify for our International Final in June 2025, where they will face off with the category winners from other countries and continents.
